Shaun Wheatley, was born in England and emigrated to the U.S. with his family in 1977. Shaun played Junior golf in both England and America. Later he was a member of the nationally recognized NCAA collegiate golf program at Central Connecticut State University.

In 1979 Shaun began working in the family Custom Club and Repair business.  He developed a process of finishing wooden clubs that led the industry in the mid 80’s and has also made major contributions to the research of golf shaft performance, culminating with the development of a procedure to select the optimum shaft for any player's demands. With twenty years of experience in the club industry, Shaun provides a unique understanding of both clubmaking and the golf swing which is rare in the industry today.

John Wheatley, founder of Ashdown Golf and a co-founder of Brampton Technology Ltd., passed away on 11/25/02. John, a resident of Newington, CT., was a long time custom club maker in the Northeast. A technical engineer by training, he moved to the USA from England over 35 years ago, and had been involved in club making, club fitting and teaching ever since he arrived. In addition to his club making and Brampton, John was instrumental in the early days of the PCS (Professional Clubmakers Society), and served as a tour representative on the PGA, LPGA and Senior PGA Professional Golf Tours for Apollo Golf Shafts.
